I have a non submersible pump and it is very loud. How can I make it quiet?

Its a non-submersible pump that I keep in my tank to pump to my filter grade wet dry up in the aquarium. It sounds so loud even when I have the door closed under the tank. it also gets indulgent hot on the metal base of the pump.
